What Seniors Need To Be Doing This Summer

Summer Check List For Rising Seniors With college application season right around the corner, and some schools even releasing their supplements and essay topics early, there's no better time than now for rising seniors to make sure they're on the right track for the fall. Here's what rising seniors need to be doing this summer to get prepared for the next semester: Make sure your resume is up-to-date. Be sure to include any community service or other activities you are doing this summer. Continue your summer reading! Check out some of our recommended books for your reading list. Continue to research colleges online and build your school list. Include a combination of reach, target, and likely schools to create a balanced list. Begin brainstorming ideas for your personal statement and the other Common Application essay topics to get a head start on thinking about what you will write about come application time. Reach out to admissions offices on your school list that you haven't requested information from yet. Research school testing requirements. If the schools on your college list require the TOEFL or another English proficiency exam, take the exam in the fall. Have fun! While it's important to stay on track for application season in the fall, it's also important to take a much-needed break every now and then. Enjoy your summer! But also keep your eyes on the prize.
